Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 May 2026
These documents govern your use of ShadowScout. Please read them before uploading any data or using the service.
Privacy Policy
ShadowScout is a football data analysis tool. We are committed to handling the data you upload with care and transparency. This policy explains what information we collect, how we store it, and what we do not do with it.
Data you upload
When you upload a CSV file, its contents are processed on our server to generate the statistics and visualisations you request. Your data is stored temporarily in a session that expires automatically — after 3 days for free accounts, 14 days for Analyst accounts, and 30 days for Director accounts. Once expired, the data is permanently deleted from our servers with no recovery option.
We do not read, inspect, re-use, or sell the contents of your uploaded files for any purpose other than generating the analysis you explicitly request.
Your account
Creating an account is required to use ShadowScout. We collect only the information necessary to authenticate you and verify your subscription entitlements — typically your email address and a hashed password, or equivalent credentials via a third-party sign-in provider.
Your account exists solely to establish which subscription tier you hold. We do not intentionally build a personal or behavioural profile from your account. We do not use your uploaded data or in-app behaviour for advertising, resale, or profiling purposes. Note that our hosting infrastructure and third-party service providers (such as Vercel, Stripe, and server-side logging tools) may retain standard technical logs — such as IP addresses, request timestamps, and error traces — as a normal part of operating a web service. These logs are not used by us to build a profile of you.
Local storage
Your browser's localStorage is used to store your session ID, subscription tier, and in-app preferences (selected metrics, custom role definitions, sheet filters). This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers beyond what is required to verify your session.
Subscription and payment data
Payment and billing data is handled directly by Stripe under their own privacy policy. We receive only a confirmation of your active subscription tier — no card numbers, bank details, or raw payment information is stored by us.
Third-party services
We do not currently share any data with advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers. If this changes, this policy will be updated before any such sharing occurs.
Data security
Uploaded session data is stored on secure servers. Sessions are identified only by an unguessable UUID. Anyone who obtains your session ID could access that session, so treat it as you would a password. If you believe your session has been compromised, use the dashboard's “Clear session” option to delete it immediately.
Children
ShadowScout is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Terms of Use
By accessing or using ShadowScout you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What ShadowScout is
ShadowScout is a statistical analysis and data visualisation tool. It processes football player data that you supply and presents derived metrics, percentile rankings, role scores, and charts. All outputs are generated algorithmically from the data you provide and are for informational and exploratory purposes only.
Your data, your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the data you upload. You confirm that you have the right to process that data through this service. Do not upload data that contains personal information about real individuals beyond standard publicly available football statistics, or any data that you do not have permission to use.
No liability for decisions made
The analysis, scores, rankings, and recommendations produced by ShadowScout are statistical outputs based solely on the data you provide. They are not professional football scouting reports, financial advice, or guarantees of any kind.
ShadowScout accepts no responsibility or liability for any decision, action, transfer, contract, or outcome that results from or is influenced by the use of any output from this service. You use the insights at your own discretion and risk.
Accuracy of analysis
The quality of the analysis depends entirely on the quality and completeness of the data you upload. ShadowScout makes no warranty — express or implied — that its outputs are accurate, complete, suitable for any particular purpose, or free from errors. Statistical models have inherent limitations and do not predict real-world outcomes.
Third-party data sources
ShadowScout is compatible with data exported from Football Manager, FBRef, Wyscout, and similar platforms. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to Sports Interactive, SEGA, Opta, StatsBomb, or any other data provider. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of any platform from which you export data.
Service availability
We provide ShadowScout on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or any feature at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such changes.
Session expiry and data loss
Session data is automatically deleted after the retention period for your tier (3 days free, 14 days Analyst, 30 days Director). We accept no liability for data lost as a result of session expiry or server-side errors. You should retain your own copies of any data you upload.
Subscriptions and payments
Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe. Subscription benefits apply for the period purchased. If you cancel, access continues until the end of the billing period. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and granted at our discretion, except where a refund is required by applicable law. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Share session IDs or upload access with others in a way that circumvents subscription limits
- Resell or redistribute outputs of the service as a commercial product without permission
Account suspension and termination
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account that violates these Terms, abuses the service, attempts to circumvent subscription limits, or engages in activity that is harmful to us or other users. Where possible we will notify you before taking action, but we may act without notice where the violation is serious or ongoing. Upon termination, your session data will be deleted. No refund is owed for any remaining subscription period where termination results from a breach of these Terms.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ShadowScout and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability in any matter arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
